This week’s prayer focus will be on the arts and festivals happening throughout Toronto over the summer, as well as some of the upcoming events at Grace.  **Please especially note the special needs section.

Prayer for the City:

Pray for the various cultural festivals, art exhibits and musical events happening throughout our city this summer.   Pray for the following events, that the Lord would use them as access points to the Gospel and opportunities to highlight the city’s need for a Savior to rescue them from the temporary pursuit of pleasure. Praise the Lord for the wonderful variety of cultures, nature, and artistic expressions He has blessed our city with to put on all these events.  Pray for those involved to seek to use their talent for the sake of others.  Pray that their artistic expression would draw them to look beyond themselves to the ultimate Artist who is the Author of all creation.

• Summerlicious (July 9-25)
• Beaches International Jazz Festival (July 16-25)
• Caribana Festival (July 13-Aug 2)
• Buskerfest (Aug. 26-29)

Prayer for our Church:

• Pray for the Connections Ministry, as they prepare to launch the Connection Centre, which will provide information and connection points for newcomers and anyone at Grace interested in getting more involved in the church community.  Pray for wisdom, direction and successful implementation for the leaders of this ministry.  Pray that as they recruit more people, many would be willing to serve on this team and be servants towards the newcomers in making them feel welcomed and included at Grace.
• Pray for the prayer meeting this Sunday that many would attend and make it a priority to join in praying with one another for our church and city.  Pray that these meetings would grow and become a flourishing, dynamic part of Grace’s ministry.
• Pray for the Faith/Work “Study on Ambition” this Sunday evening.  Pray for the discussion to lead to outlets for living out our faith in a practical way.  Pray for many to attend and that within the next work week, they would have opportunities to live out what they discussed.

Special Needs:

• Pray for Dan and Sue MacDonald, as Dan’s father passed away on Saturday evening.  Pray for them to experience the “God of all comfort and Father of mercies” (2 Cor 1:3-4).  Pray for their ability to be there for any of those around them who do not have the comfort of a relationship with Him. Pray for the funeral arrangements and other details to be dealt with smoothly and quickly.  Pray that this death would open up the door for many more opportunities to talk of the hope of Christ and eternity with all those around them.
