Prayer for the City & Church: Aug 30-Sept 6
August 30th, 2010 by Stephanie
This week’s prayer focus is on the city of Toronto’s need for a spiritual awakening and our need to be freed from the bondage of the idols we so easily slip into following. Pray that God would give us a passion to truly pray for revival to break out in our broken city and in our own broken lives, that we may see God glorified in the beauty of our city. **Please note the praise section, as we praise God for His new additions to our congregation!
Prayer for the City:
-For spiritual awakening:
- Deep-rooted sense of brokenness
- Awareness of the need for a Savior
- Willingness to give up control of self
-For freedom from the bondage of idols:
- Wealth/Materialism
- Status/Reputation/Job Title or Position
- Drugs/Alcohol
- Body Image
- Relationships—spouses, children, boyfriends/girlfriends
- Sexual intimacy found in wrong sources—one-night stands, homosexuality, prostitution, pre-marital sex
Prayer for the Church:
- Pray for Dan and Sue MacDonald, as they are away on a much-needed vacation. Pray for rest, refreshment and spiritual encouragement from their long summer of many trials and grief. Pray that they would return with a renewed passion and heart for the city of Toronto and their role as leaders of Grace Toronto Church.
- Pray for us to get confirmation soon about the new space we will be renting for when we move to one service in October. Pray that we would not have complications in securing a space soon and that the administrators would allow us all the resources we need to rent an effective space for our growing needs.
- Pray for the on-going meetings with the various ministry directors, as they plan for the upcoming transition to the new building. Pray for adaptability, flexibility, resources and creativity as we learn to adjust to a new space and plans.
Praises:
- Praise God for the new births in our church! Bailey Abigail was born to Ethan and Janette Park on August 16, followed a week later by Magda Pearl born to Mike and Larisa Logan on August 23. Praise God for these new little girls in our congregation and pray for rest, health and provision for these new parents, as they raise their daughters in the Lord.
