This week we will be focusing on the recent violent attacks that have happened throughout Toronto and asking the Lord to bring peace to our community, both physically and spiritually.   We will also be praying for the leadership teams of Grace Toronto.  *Please note the special needs and events section for ways to pray for the upcoming Grace Toronto events.

Prayer for the City:

• Pray for the recent string of stabbings, murders and attacks that have been happening throughout the city over the past week.  Pray that the victims would fully recover and would not live in fear.  Pray for the attackers–that they would be convicted of their sin and would end the violence and seek to have their lives transformed by the God of Rest who can quiet their restless, violent behaviour.
• Pray for areas of the city that are known for crime and violence–Jane & Finch, Queen & Sherbourne, Dundas and Sherbourne, Regent Park, St. Jamestown.  Pray for wisdom for the police to monitor these areas carefully. Pray for safety and protection of those who live or work in these areas.
• Pray for the organizations that reach out to those in violence-prone situations or areas–for wisdom, creativity, resources, strength for the workers, protection and lives changed as a result of their faithful service.

• Pray for the leaders of Grace Toronto (the elders, deacons, ministry coordinators, GG leaders, staff)–for their spiritual growth and discipline in spending time with the Lord.  Pray for their relationships (spouses, friends, children, etc) that they would remain rooted in the Lord and would come out of an overflow of their relationship with God.
• Pray for their wisdom, intuition, leadership development, recruitment and all else that they need to serve the capacity of their ministries.
• Pray for them especially as they begin to think through the details of the upcoming transition to one service and a new space.  Pray for flexibility, resources, adaptability and a volunteer, willing spirit to serve in these upcoming weeks and months of change and transition.

Special Events:

• Please pray for our pastor, Dan MacDonald, as he is at his sister in law’s funeral this week. Please pray for comfort and peace during this time of grief and that he would find rest–physically, emotionally, spiritually during this difficult time.
• Pray for the upcoming Grace Summer Games event this Saturday, August 14.  Pray that it would be a time of great community, friendship and even a missional opportunity for our neighbors, co-workers and friends.  Pray for good weather and that many would attend for the sake of deeper unification of our church.
• Pray for the Faith & Work Study on Ambition taking place on Tuesday, August 10th.  Pray that many would attend and that the leaders would be prepared to lead an impacting discussion that would enable a better understanding of how to grow in Gospel-living in the work place.
• Pray for the Connections Team meetings on Sunday, August 15th.  Pray that those who God is calling to join this ministry would be able to attend and that this team would add to their numbers to reach newcomers at Grace.  Pray for a good time of training and that this team would truly serve the community of Grace.
