Prayer for the City & Church: Sept 27-Oct 3

This week’s prayer focus is on the recent fire in St. Jamestown and the hundreds who are left without homes or possessions.  We will also be focusing the next few weeks on some significant needs for our church as we prepare to transition to our new location. **Please note the praise section for some answers to last week’s prayer requests!

Prayer for the City

  • Pray for the 1200+ residents of 200 Wellelsley who have been displaced and are currently homeless until the apartment building that caught fire has undergone structural damage check and restoration.  Pray for adequate resources and provision for all of them, especially as many are elderly or pregnant and many with mental health problems.
  • Pray for the 120 firefighters who fought the fire for over 12 hours–pray for their recovery physically and emotionally.
  • Pray for the city and other services who are trying to assist those in need as best as possible.  Pray for unity in decision-making and for an abundance of resources and aid to be distributed during this time.
  • Pray for wisdom for those examining the structural damage to know how best to resolve the building issue and for a new building to be constructed as quickly and safely as possible, if needed.
  • Pray for the churches and other mission organizations that are administering care during this time, that this may be an opening for the Gospel to this community and those involved in this crisis.  Pray that we would look back on this time and rejoice that God turned tragedy into good, by bringing many to a saving relationship with Him in the midst of this situation.  Pray for the end result to be not only physical restoration to these people, but even more importantly, spiritual restoration.

Prayer for the Church

  • Pray for the follow-up from Sunday’s newcomer’s lunch and dinner–that many of the recent newcomers to Grace would find a place to get involved and connected to the life and community of the church.
  • Pray for wisdom for Ian and his team to determine the best situation for the sound system use in our new location.  Pray for an opportunity to visit this week to test out the sound system at Jarvis and for financial resources to afford the best solution.
  • Pray for Kyle and the moving team as they determine the best solution for the storage, set-up and transportation of equipment from Grace to Jarvis.
  • Pray for our congregation to be willing to serve in whatever capacity necessary to make the transition successful and to serve the newcomers in our new space.
  • Pray for the financial resources needed to fund both the initial and ongoing costs of our new facility.  Pray that we would give generously and cheerfully and that God would provide above and beyond what we could imagine.
  • Pray that we would be good stewards of our space and that our partnership with Jarvis would be such a blessing to them that it would open the doors for opportunities to share the Gospel to the faculty and staff.

Praises!

  • We got the green light on use of the new location’s sound system!  Ian Cusson and Mike Mak are also able to visit it this week to test it out and determine how best to use it.
  • We got confirmation that we will be able to use both parking lots!
  • We got quotes from Red Rocket Coffee to receive a good discount for coffee for the Sunday service.
