Prayer for the City & Church: Oct 4-10

This week’s prayer post is continuing to focus on the recent fire in St. Jamestown and the hundreds who have been left homeless until the building is repaired.  We are also continuing to focus on some significant needs for our church as we prepare to transition to our new location. **Please note the praise section for some answers to last week’s prayer requests!

Prayer for the City

  • Pray for the ~860 residents of 200 Wellesley (the building that had a 6-alarm fire in it last week) who have not yet been allowed to return to live in their homes.  Many will not be able to return for many months, as the building undergoes significant repair.  Pray for adequate resources and provision for all of them, especially as many are elderly, pregnant, with young children or have mental health problems.
  • Pray for the city and other services who are trying to assist those in need as best as possible.  Pray for unity in decision-making and for an abundance of resources and aid to be distributed during this time.
  • Pray for wisdom for those examining the structural damage to know how best to resolve the building damage and to restore it as quickly as possible.
  • Pray for the families and those spending time together for Thanksgiving this weekend.  Pray that, despite this tragedy, they would have much to be thankful for and would enjoy their time with one another.  Pray that our whole city would recognize this weekend as a time to give thanks and that God would be honored this weekend in our city.

Prayer for the Church

  • Pray for the final details in preparing for the transition to Jarvis.  Pray that the worship team and sound crew would have clarity on what equipment to use and how to use the space most effectively.
  • Pray for our current shortage of ushers and moving team members–pray that we would see those gaps filled before the start of our first service in the new location.
  • Pray for the space arrangement to work out to accommodate the various ministries–children’s ministry, Connection Centre ushers, etc.
  • Pray for the financial resources needed to fund both the initial and ongoing costs of our new facility.  Pray that we would give generously and cheerfully and that God would provide above and beyond what we could imagine.
  • Pray that we would be good stewards of our space and that our partnership with Jarvis would be such a blessing to them that it would open the doors for opportunities to share the Gospel to the faculty and staff.

Praises and Thanksgiving

  • A seeker who has been attending Grace for a while placed her faith in Christ last night!! Praise God for a new sister in Christ in our community!! Pray for her continued spiritual growth and development and that her times with the Lord would be encouraging and refreshing to her this week.
  • Praise God for a good time on Sunday to do a walk-through at the new location and get an idea of how it will work for our service.
  • Praise God for a good start to our Grace Gatherings and that we have over 300 people in groups this year!
  • Thank God for His goodness and faithfulness in your life this year. Take time to share this with others, as you gather together for Thanksgiving weekend.

‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.’  - Eph. 1:3
