Prayer for the City & Church: Nov 8-14
November 8th, 2010 by Stephanie
Praying for Redemption in Toronto:
‘Behold, the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the earth: Say to the daughter of [Toronto], “Behold, your salvation comes; behold His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.” And [Toronto] shall be called The Holy People, The Redeemed of the Lord; and you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken.’
- Arts Communities (Music, Dance, Theatre, Visual, Design)—that these would be areas of influence for revealing our brokenness and yet showing Christ as the answer to that brokenness.
- Families—pray against divorces, abuse, absence, neglect. Pray that the family unit would be upheld as something beautiful and worth holding fast to in our ever isolating, independent society.
- Underground sex slave market—that the recent exposure in the news to the reality of this issue here in Toronto would awaken opportunities for further investigation and action to fight against it in our city and that there would be safe places for the victims to holistically recover.
- Pray for Regent Park and the recent shooting they have had (the second shooting since Thanksgiving). Pray that the victims’ families would experience comfort and healing in the midst of this painful time. Pray for peace and redemption to be restored to this broken, hurting community.
Prayer for the Church
- Pray that Grace Toronto would become a place where God’s redemption is demonstrated in our lives and is something that is changing us day by day to become more like Him.
- Pray for our Grace Gatherings to be places where we can openly share our brokenness with one another and receive prayer, encouragement and sharpening from those in our groups.
- Pray for the men’s breakfast on Saturday to be a place of connections, spiritual growth and encouragement for all who attend. Pray for the leaders who are putting it together to have a sense of unity and direction and purpose for the event and that this would become the beginning of many opportunities for the men to grow together in the Lord.
Praise Update!
Beth Williams, one of our very own who has been serving in Madagascar for the past 3 months as a nurse with AIM (Africa Inland Mission), has returned safely to Canada! Praise the Lord for her time there and for both the spiritual growth she received as well as the opportunity she had to impact so many lives while there. A few prayer requests she has shared:
- That she maintains the same level of devotion and closeness that she felt with the Lord in Madagascar. Pray that her schedule does not become too hectic to maintain good spiritual balance and that she would know when to say “no” to social or work-related engagements so that her devotion time does not suffer.
- Pray for the AIM Madagascar team and for the spiritual growth of existing Malagasy Christians. Pray for Manoa, Tiana, Vola, Bini, Moira, Fafa and the youth at Ivato Baptist Church that as young Christian leaders they would be filled with the Holy Spirit and led to make disciples of other Malagasy youth.
- Pray for an apartment for her sister and her to move into as soon as possible. She is hoping to move near Regent Park and work out her schedule so that she does not work on Wednesdays and can be a leader for the Squads ministry each week. Pray this would be able to happen.
