Prayer for the City & Church: Feb 28-Mar 6

This week’s prayer focus is on praying for mercy and justice to reign in our city and through our church.  We also saw the Lord answer some specific prayer requests from last week that are shared below.

Prayer for our City:

  • Pray for those who have been oppressed or mistreated by the world.  That they would know the existence of a God of Justice and that He would come to their aid.  Pray for outlets for them to receive care and a voice for their situation.
  • Pray for those who are, whether by choice or not, in broken conditions – addicts, homeless, poverty-stricken, prostitutes and pimps, single parents – that they would find a place of healing and recovery from their situation.  Pray for a strong support system around them to help them when they are vulnerable to returning to their current situation.
  • Pray for the Hope Toronto ministries that exist to help those in need in our city.  Pray for Toronto City Mission, Yonge Street Mission, Squads, the Warehouse, Light Patrol, Sisters of Life & the Matthew House – that they would keep Christ at the center of their ministries and as the Motivator for why they do what they do.  Pray for their stamina, energy, creativity and resources – that they would have a major influence in the city and be a place of protection, blessing and true life-change for all those they reach.

Prayer for our Church:

  • Pray that we would heed the call of mercy and that we would see mercy ministry as a lifestyle not just a one-off volunteer opportunity.
  • Pray for the deacon’s choices in the deaconate fund to know how to best distribute the resources for those in need.
  • Pray for wisdom for the Hope Toronto committee to know how to continue sustaining and supporting the current partnerships and for wisdom on the timing and choice of future partnerships.

Praises!!

  • Praise God for the opportunity that Ray Hwang and Adam Lin had on their recent short-term mission trip to Scotland. Praise the Lord for
    • the spiritual climate shifting in the past year – apathy has definitely lessened and there are now many people who are interested in knowing about God
    • the local campus ministry in Scotland having grown – the number almost tripling since last year
    • 7 people who placed their faith in Christ!
    • safe travels to and from the country and a unity among the team throughout the trip

11And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.15Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”     Ephesians 4:11-16
