Prayer for the City & Church: Apr 18-24
April 19th, 2011 by Stephanie
Our focus this week will be on asking God to open the eyes of our city to see the significance of Christ’s work on the cross and for our own hearts to be prepared for Easter as well.
And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. ~Romans 1:4-5 (NLT)
Prayer for our City
- Pray that this weekend would be an opportunity for the city to be exposed to the story of Christ’s death and resurrection and how it relates to their lives today.
- Pray that churches in the city would uphold the truth of the Gospel and would be clear and accurate in their explanation of what Christ’s work on the cross has accomplished.
- Pray that hearts would be convicted by what Christ has done for them and that there would be true life-change and surrender to Him this weekend.
Prayer for our Church
- Pray that the Good Friday service in partnership with the other 4 churches would be an opportunity to commemorate Christ’s death in unity with other believers in the city.
- Pray for all the finishing details this week – that they would be worked out and that the service would run smoothly and be free from distractions.
- Pray that this weekend would be an opportunity for us to be refreshed and renewed in our celebration for what Christ has done for us and that it would inspire us to share this with others.
Consider reflecting on the following verses throughout this week to help prepare your heart for the celebration of our Saviour’s life, death and resurrection this weekend.

- Wednesday – 1 Corinthians 11:23-32
