This Christmas season, our Hope Toronto affiliates have needs that you can help fulfill! Please take a look at our list below and connect with the ministry representative to coordinate your volunteer efforts.
Come together with your small group, colleagues, or friends to create a “Move Out Kit” for families transitioning out of Adam House, into a more permanent settlement.
A Move Out Kids consists of the following household items:
- 4 sets of cutlery (forks, spoons, teaspoons, knives)
- 4 plates, 4 bowls, 4 glasses, 4 mugs
- 1 pan, 1 flipper, 1 spatula
- 1 large cooking pot, 1 small cooking pot
- 1 serving spoon, 1 can opener
- 1 tea towel, 1 dish cloth
Adam House would also appreciate any financial support this Christmas season. They are renovating the third floor to bring the total to 25 beds this year. Light Patrol is looking forward to hosting multiple Christmas parties around the city--from churches to under bridges. They are in need grocery gift cards to help offset the cost of the food as well as baked goods. Light Patrol also asks for warm socks and gloves that will be offered as Christmas gifts. All goods must be collected by Monday, Dec 18.
This winter season, they are in need of gently used hoodies, blankets, and new underwear as well. To serve, connect with Harriet Nijboer (firstname.lastname@example.org) and David Annesley (email@example.com).
Pregnancy Care Centre
PCC offers a Christmas bag to all the expectant moms/ new moms they have served during the calendar year. Last year PCC gave out 90 bags and they anticipate they will need 100 bags this year. The goal is to keep the contents of the bags the same.
Please assemble Christmas bags with the following items:
- package of diapers (newborn, size 1, 2, or 3)
- Walmart or Grocery gift card of $25
- wipes (one package)
- toiletry item for mom (soap/ shampoo, hand cream etc.)
- Jesus Story Book by Sally Lloyd-Jones
- greeting card from someone who is praying for them and offers word of encouragement
Christmas bags are distributed during four PCC Christmas parties. PCC would like to receive any donations for the Christmas bags by Wednesday, Dec 6. To serve, please connect with Phuong Ha (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Karen Hamilton (email@example.com).
Consider sponsoring a special Christmas for a family-in-need. Several of the families that have placed their children with Safe Families would appreciate Christmas gifts, meals, or visits! To serve, please connect with Jennifer Francis (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Squads is hosting a Christmas Extravaganza on Sunday, Dec 3 at Parliament and Carlton. They are looking for donations of nut-free, baked goods as well as 2-3 volunteers who could help set-up and take equipment for the party.
In addition, Squads is also looking for volunteers for the Toy Shop and Christmas Dinners. The Toy Shop provides toys for parents to select Christmas gifts for their children. Volunteers will distribute toys to parents and aid with childcare. The Toy Shop is located at 77 River St and is open on Saturdays mornings starting Saturday, Nov 25.
Squads is also hosting Family Christmas Dinners at 77 River St on Wednesday evenings starting in December. They are looking for volunteers to help serve meals to families attending the Christmas Dinners. TORONTO CITY MISSION
TCM would like to provide 80 bags of nut-free, assorted candy to go along with the Christmas books they will be gifting to their kids and teens.
