Light Patrol

Light Patrol is a specialized outreach initiated by Youth Unlimited in the summer of 2002. With a commitment to caring for the immediate and long-term needs of homeless youth, we train, equip and send out teams of street-workers (staff and volunteers) to reach homeless youth wherever they are… on the streets, in alleyways, under bridges and off-ramps, in parks… wherever it is they seek space to call “home.”

Here’s how the Grace community can get involved with Light Patrol:

  • Spend one night a week distributing a meal and needed supplies to homeless youth while building a relationship with them, as you engage with them on a weekly basis.
  • If you are a healthcare professional, use your skills to administer aid to those who do not otherwise receive it, as you accompany the youth outreach team to give care to homeless youth.
  • Prepare food, assist in resource and supply pick ups, or donate supplies to be handed out during the homeless youth outreach.
  • Use your mechanic skills to help repair and maintain the outreach vehicles.
