Missions Support
philosophy of missions
The purpose of missions is to glorify God. God is resolutely focused on the goal of glorifying himself; that is his greatest and most relentless commitment. It is His commitment to His glory that fuels His grace to us ( Isaiah 48:9- 11 ; Eph. 1:5-6). Therefore, it is our purpose to gladly glorify Him by spreading the gospel of His grace throughout the world.
The goal of missions is worship. We do missions because not everyone is worshipping the true God. Worship is central to the task of the church, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man. However, missions is a necessary outgrowth of our worship and our obedience of faith to the gospel.
The biblical strategy of missions is church-planting and church-growing. The goal of foreign missions is to raise up strong, doctrinally sound, contagiously evangelistic, gospel-centered churches in every people group in the world. Grace Toronto is called to partner with the universal Church of Jesus Christ to that end.
The particular call of Grace Toronto Church is to glorify God by providing sustained, long- term assistance to missionary endeavors that build up gospel-centered, missional, merciful, prayerful church movements, in large unchurched urban centres, around the world. This includes being involved in our own city and our own country, as well as the far corners of the earth.
