SONG - ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING

(© 2002 Moon & Musky Music. CCLI # 3608102)

All creatures of our God and King

Lift up your voice and with us sing

O praise Him alleluia

Thou burning sun with golden beam

Thou silver moon with softer gleam

O praise Him O praise Him

Alleluia alleluia alleluia

Thou rushing wind that art so strong

Ye clouds that sail in Heav'n along

O praise Him alleluia

Thou rising moon in praise rejoice

Ye lights of evening find a voice

O praise Him O praise Him

Alleluia alleluia alleluia

Let all things their Creator bless

And worship Him in humbleness

O praise Him alleluia

Praise praise the Father praise the Son

And praise the Spirit three in One

O praise Him O praise Him

Alleluia alleluia alleluia

SONG - A MIGHTY FORTRESS

(© 2009 sixsteps Music. Admin. by Capitol CMG Publishing. CCLI Song # 5488935.)

Our God is a consuming fire

A burning holy flame with glory and freedom

Our God is the only righteous judge

Ruling over us with kindness and wisdom

And we will keep our eyes on You

We will keep our eyes on You

A mighty fortress is our God

A sacred refuge is Your name

Your Kingdom is unshakable

And with You forever we will reign

Our God is jealous for His own

None could comprehend His love and His mercy

Our God is exalted on His throne

High above the heavens forever He is worthy

We will keep our eyes on You

We will keep our eyes on You

So we can set our hearts on You

Lord we will set our hearts on You

With You forever we will reign

With You forever we will reign

SONG - PRAISE TO THE LORD THE ALMIGHTY

(© 2004 Word Music, LLC, Rocketown Music, LLC., and Sweater Weather Music. CCLI # 4345378)

Praise to the Lord

The Almighty the King of creation

O my soul praise Him

For He is thy health and salvation

All ye who hear

Now to His temple draw near

Praise Him in glad adoration

Praise to the Lord

Who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth

Shelters thee under His wings,

yea so gently sustaineth

Hast thou not seen

How thy desires e’er have been

Granted in what He ordaineth

Praise to the Lord

Who will prosper thy work and defend thee

Surely His goodness and mercy

Shall daily attend thee

Ponder anew

What the Almighty can do

If with His love He befriend thee

Praise to the Lord

O let all that is in me adore Him

All that has life and breath

Come now with praises before Him

Let the Amen sound from His people again

Gladly forever adore Him

GOD CLEANSES

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

ALL:

O gracious and gentle and condescending God,

God of peace, Father of mercy, God of all comfort:

we confess before you the evil of our hearts;

we acknowledge that we are too inclined

toward anger, jealousy, and revenge,

to ambition and pride,

which often give rise to discord and bitter feelings

between others and us.

Too often have we thus both offended and grieved you,

O long-suffering Father.

Forgive us this sin and permit us to partake of the blessing

you have promised the peacemakers,

who shall be called the children of God.

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

SILENT CONFESSION

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

—from 1 John 1:5, 7, NRSV

This is the message we have heard from God

and proclaim to you,

that God is light and in God there is no darkness at all.

If we walk in the light, as God is in the light,

we have fellowship with one another,

and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

SONG OF ASSURANCE - PROMISES

(© 2020 Bethel Worship Publishing; Maverick City Publishing; Capitol CMG Paragon; ForTheDreamers Publishing; JDW Legacy Publishing; Aaron Moses Chiriboga Music; Heaven Publishing. CCLI Song # 7149439)

God of Abraham You're the God of covenant

Of faithful promises

Time and time again You have proven

You do just what You say

Though the storms may come

And the winds may blow

I'll remain steadfast

And let my heart learn when You speak a word

It will come to pass

Great is Your faithfulness to me

Great is Your faithfulness to me

From the rising sun to the setting same

I will praise Your name

Great is Your faithfulness to me

God from age to age

Though the earth may pass away

Your word remains the same yeah

Your history can prove

There's nothing You can't do

You're faithful and true

I put my faith in Jesus

My anchor to the ground

My hope and firm foundation

He'll never let me down

SCRIPTURE READING

Matt 16:18, Acts 1:8, Gal. 5:16, Eph. 5:15

Matt. 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Acts 1: 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Gal. 5:16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

Eph. 5:15 Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

SONG OF RESPONSE - CROWN HIM WITH MANY CROWNS

(© Words: Public Domain. CCLI Song # 23938)

Crown Him with many crowns

The Lamb upon His throne

Hark how the heavenly anthem drowns

All music but its own

Awake my soul and sing

Of Him who died for thee

And hail Him as thy matchless King

Through all eternity

Crown Him the Lord of life

Who triumphed o'er the grave

And rose victorious in the strife

For those He came to save

His glories now we sing

Who died and rose on high

Who died eternal life to bring

And lives that death may die

Crown Him the Lord of love

Behold His hands and side

Rich wounds yet visible above

In beauty glorified

No angel in the sky

Can fully bear that sight

But downward bends each burning eye

At mysteries so bright

Crown Him the Lord of peace

Whose power a sceptre sways

From pole to pole

That wars may cease

And all be prayer and praise

His reign shall know no end

And round His pierced feet

Fair flowers of paradise extend

Their fragrance ever sweet

Crown Him the Lord of years

The Potentate of time

Creator of the rolling spheres

Ineffably sublime

All hail Redeemer hail

For Thou hast died for me

Thy praise shall never never fail

Throughout eternity

COMMUNION

PRAYER FOR THOSE SEARCHING FOR TRUTH

Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life.  Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open me to the reality of who you are.  Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing and that leads to the life you promise.  Amen.

PRAYER OF BELIEF

Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever dared admit, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope.  I thank you for paying my debt on the cross, taking what I deserved in order to offer me complete forgiveness. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Saviour and Lord.  Amen.
