GOD CALLS

CALL TO WORSHIP

‍

—Psalm 47:1-2, 6, NRSV

‍

LEADER:

Clap your hands, all you peoples;

shout to God with loud songs of joy.

For the LORD, the Most High, is awesome,

a great king over all the earth.

‍

ALL:

Sing praises to God, sing praises;

sing praises to our King, sing praises.

SONG - LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH

(© 1997 Thankyou Music. CCLI # 2430979.)

‍

Let ev'rything that

Ev'rything that

Ev'rything that has breath

Praise the Lord

Let ev'rything that

Ev'rything that

Ev'rything that has breath

Praise the Lord

‍

Praise You in the morning

Praise You in the evening

Praise You when I'm young

And when I'm old

Praise You when I'm laughing

Praise You when I'm grieving

Praise You ev'ry season of the soul

‍

If we (they) could see

How much You're worth

Your pow'r Your might

Your endless love

Then surely we would

Never cease to praise

‍

Praise You in the heavens

Joining with the angels

Praising You forever and a day

Praise You on the earth now

Joining with creation

Calling all the nations to Your praise

SONG - I STAND IN AWE

(© 1987 Sovereign Grace Praise. CCLI Song # 23914)

‍

You are beautiful beyond description

Too marvelous for words

Too wonderful for comprehension

Like nothing ever seen or heard

Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom

Who can fathom the depth of Your love

You are beautiful beyond description

Majesty enthroned above

‍

And I stand I stand in awe of You

I stand I stand in awe of You

Holy God to whom all praise is due

I stand in awe of You

‍

You are beautiful beyond description

Yet God crushed You for my sin

In agony and deep affliction

Cut off that I might enter in

Who can grasp such tender compassion

Who can fathom this mercy so free

You are beautiful beyond description

Lamb of God who died for me

SONG - HOSANNA

(Brooke Ligertwood/© 2006 Hillsong Music Publishing) CCLI #2821054

‍

I see the King of glory

Coming on the clouds with fire

The whole earth shakes

The whole earth shakes yeah

‍

I see His love and mercy

Washing over all our sin

The people sing

The people sing

‍

Hosanna hosanna

Hosanna in the highest

Hosanna hosanna

Hosanna in the highest

‍

I see a generation

Rising up to take their place

With selfless faith

With selfless faith

‍

I see a near revival

Stirring as we pray and seek

We're on our knees

We're on our knees

‍

Heal my heart and make it clean

Open up my eyes to the things unseen

Show me how to love like You have loved me

Break my heart for what breaks Yours

Everything I am for Your Kingdom’s cause

As I walk from earth into eternity

‍

GOD CLEANSES

‍

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

‍

ALL:

Eternal and merciful God,

you have loved us with a love beyond our understanding,

and you have set us on paths of righteousness for your name’s sake.

Yet we have strayed from your way;

we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed,

through what we have done and what we have left undone.

As we remember the lavish gift of your grace

we praise you and give you thanks that you forgive us yet again.

Grant us now, we pray, the grace to die daily to sin,

and to rise daily to new life in Christ,

who lives and reigns with you,

and in whose strong name we pray.

Amen.

SILENT CONFESSION

‍

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

—Isaiah 53:4-6, NRSV

‍

Surely he has borne our infirmities

and carried our diseases;

yet we accounted him stricken,

struck down by God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions,

crushed for our iniquities;

upon him was the punishment that made us whole,

and by his bruises we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray;

we have all turned to our own way,

and the LORD has laid on him

the iniquity of us all.

‍

‍

SONG OF ASSURANCE - HOW DEEP THE FATHER'S LOVE FOR US

(© 1995 Thankyou Music. CCLI # 1558110)

‍

How deep the Father's love for us

How vast beyond all measure

That He should give His only Son

To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss

The Father turns His face away

As wounds which mar the Chosen One

Bring many sons to glory

‍

Behold the Man upon a cross

My sin upon His shoulders

Ashamed I hear my mocking voice

Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there

Until it was accomplished

His dying breath has brought me life

I know that it is finished

‍

I will not boast in anything

No gifts no pow’r no wisdom

But I will boast in Jesus Christ

His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward

I cannot give an answer

But this I know with all my heart

His wounds have paid my ransom

‍

SCRIPTURE READING

‍

Philippians 2:19-30

19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you. 20 I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare. 21 For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel. 23 I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me. 24 And I am confident in the Lord that I myself will come soon.

25 But I think it is necessary to send back to you Epaphroditus, my brother, co-worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs. 26 For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill. 27 Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow. 28 Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety. 29 So then, welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honour people like him, u because he almost died for the work of Christ. He risked his life to make up for the help you yourselves could not give me.

SONG OF RESPONSE - LEAD ME TO THE CROSS

(© 2006 Hillsong Music Publishing Australia. Admin. by Capitol CMG Publishing. CCLI Song # 4785828)

‍

Saviour I come quiet my soul

Remember redemption's hill

Where Your blood was spilled

For my ransom

Pre-Chorus

Ev’rything I once held dear

I count it all as loss

‍

Lead me to the cross

Where Your love poured out

Bring me to my knees

Lord I lay me down

Rid me of myself

I belong to You

Oh lead me lead me to the cross

‍

You were as I tempted and tried human

The word became flesh

Bore my sin in death

Now You're risen

‍

To Your heart

To Your heart

Lead me to Your heart

Lead me to Your heart

COMMUNION
‍

PRAYER FOR THOSE SEARCHING FOR TRUTH

Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life.  Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open me to the reality of who you are.  Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing and that leads to the life you promise.  Amen.

‍

PRAYER OF BELIEF

Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever dared admit, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope.  I thank you for paying my debt on the cross, taking what I deserved in order to offer me complete forgiveness. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Saviour and Lord.  Amen.
